Brands of The Independent Institute of Education have entered into a partnership that will see their students benefit from having an affordable healthcare option. Following a partnership with Contro, a comprehensive health tech platform, The IIE’s Varsity College, IIE MSA and IIE Vega School students now have access to affordable, convenient and discreet healthcare services.  When students sign up with their IIE student number, they automatically receive a 33% discount across all Contro treatment services, The IIE said in a release.

Contro was introduced across all campuses in February. The choice to collaborate with Contro stemmed from the aim to personalise options and to offer cost effective comprehensive individual healthcare assistance to students. With the rise of technology and shifts in Gen Z behaviour, a digital platform for accessing healthcare services aligns with students’ preferences, meet students where they are at and provides access to a wealth of resources and essential healthcare services at the push of a button.

Contro’s platform offers a seamless process for students to digitally engage with licensed and registered partner Doctors through virtual consultations for various acute and chronic health conditions. Following their virtual consultation, students can opt for free and discreet delivery of their prescribed medication anywhere in South Africa, thanks to Contro’s partner Pharmacy, Medipost. Alternatively, they also have the choice to get an e-prescription sent directly to their inbox for use at their local pharmacy. Additionally, Contro’s platform automates the management, refilling, and delivery of chronic medication, ensuring students receive their medication on time resulting in greater health outcomes through enhanced compliance. Contro offers a range of treatments in various health areas, including primary health care, women’s health, men’s health, and sexual health.

Says Demi-Rae Snyman (National Student Wellness Manager The IIE’s Varsity College, IIE MSA and IIE Vega School): “As students face a variety of challenges on a regular basis, we encourage students to develop a sense of self and to foster a transformative mindset to enhance their personal development and wellbeing.  Facilitating and promoting student wellness is a fundamental part of curating a holistic student experience.  A digital health care service such as Contro, in addition to the established wellness services and support provided by the campuses’ professionally registered Student Wellness Managers, will definitely enhance student health and wellbeing”.
