Via Afrika has announced the launch of its online training course on AI in education.

Via Afrika develops and publishes learning materials for schools and TVET Colleges in South Africa and Botswana. It offers online training courses, digital textbooks, and other educational resources to support educators in their transition to digital education.

The newly announced online training course on AI in education extends the curriculum of Via Afrika’s Teaching for the Fourth Industrial Revolution course on their online training platform, the Via Afrika Digital Education Academy (VADEA), by introducing two new sessions dedicated to the understanding and application of generative AI, including ChatGPT in education.

    Course Highlights

    • Introduction to Generative AI and ChatGPT – Participants will be provided with a comprehensive overview of generative AI technologies, focusing on how systems like ChatGPT function. This session aims to familiarise educators with the fundamental concepts and capabilities of these cutting-edge technologies.
    • Taking Generative AI and ChatGPT into Education – This session delves into the practical integration of ChatGPT and other generative AI tools in educational settings. Educators will be guided on evaluating, validating, and ethically incorporating AI technologies to enhance teaching methodologies and learning experiences for their learners.

Via Afrika says the addition of generative AI-focused training to its educational repertoire underscores its commitment to equipping educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to leverage AI technology.

“This initiative aims to empower educators and learners alike, fostering an environment of innovation and forward-thinking in the classroom.”
